The Last Day of September

I'm sorry there are no pictures at this time. I uploaded them to the sight and inserted them, I assumed correctly. I have no idea why they're not here.

Last Saturday shortly after we got home from the Market I got a phone call from a neighbor. The Crossman's are great neighbors but we don't talk much as our paths don't cross that often. Tonight they did; our sheep had breeched the fence and were pigging out in their back yard.

We searched that fence looking for where they got out but could not find it. So we couldn't herd them back out the same way they got in and then fix things. We ended up having to  herd them out into another neighbors pasture (he lets us use it for hay, through a gate and then back down into our pasture.

Eben worked hard to get them where he wanted to go:

He was a blur of motion. But in the end it was Danny's voice and experience they responded to:

I was set to keep them from running up the woods road and Hannah was set to help herd the reluctant sheep after the rest of the flock.

At this point we could stop worrying and hope they stayed put. we're still not sure how they got out. But after a few adventures like this they don't seem quite as cute as they did in the Spring. But that's okay because the phone is starting to ring with people requesting sides of lamb for their freezers. And beef for their freezers too. It's part of the cycle.

This weekend Eben, Hannah and I head off to Truro for the 4H Provincial Show. Both kids have made it to the pro show: Hannah with her scrap booked cards and Eben with his calf and the table he made in the woodworking project. Said table is going to look great in my living room if I ever get it cleaned up in there. Danny will have to stay home so he can do the Farmer's Market. But we'll keep him posted. Talk to you soon
